The Messy Side of Organizing

What do you think of when you hear the word “Organize”?
I used to think that organization was a one size fits all neat, pretty and straight forward. I’ve come to learn that there are so many levels, styles and uses for organization. I fumbled my way through organizing my life through the transitions from Corporate Life to Freelance Consulting…and it was one hell of a mess.
Now that I’ve got some experience under my belt, I’d like to share some of the lessons I’ve learned.
Pay attention to your habits. Take the time to assess the areas in your life you are confident in and where you’d like to improve. Being transparently honest with yourself will save you so much trial and error. Becoming familiar with your strengths and weaknesses will help you build a routine that works for you. Be open to learning and recognizing what you don’t know. I cannot stress this enough. We think of growth as a destination, but in reality growth is a constant effort to evolve.
These challenges and opportunities to learn are already pretty hefty and robust…now add cognitive development challenges. In my case, I navigate all of the above with ADHD and ASD. Learning and understanding how these both impact and enhance my ability to learn and adapt is so important and essential to building a healthy, happy and fulfilling life (personal & professional).
The magnitude of challenges these two conditions present will always vary from person to person. In my case, some of the more challenging ones have been:
Blind Spots
Inattentiveness
Hyperactivity
Frenetic Energy
Sensory Overwhelm
Visual
Auditory
Recall Issues
Comprehension Delays
Reading
Communication
Support and custom tools would have helped me navigate and made so many of the challenges I faced so much easier as I grew up and advance in my career.
This is why I made the decision to share my journey, advice and tools I use every day to help me navigate life and business. I do this with the intention to provide support to all who need or want to grow but are feeling a little lost or overwhelmed.
I am so glad you’re here, and I hope you find what I share useful and empowering.
Remember to tune in next week for Blog Wednesday!!
Enjoy the Journey!!!
