Road Map to Becoming a Data Analyst

I came across a post yesterday talking about the order to learn analysis technical skills, and I agree with this approach.
I navigated through learning these skills in this order:
1. Excel: I learned how to collect, clean & prepare, segment, summarize, analyze and visualize data in Excel hands on.
From simple formulas to built-in functions and semi-automated templates.
2. SQL: I took an interest in SQL and picked up a few skills so I could modify parameters in existing scrips.
Then, I took a class and found that the foundation I built learning Excel drastically improved my understanding of concepts and logic while learning SQL.
3. Python: I decided to take it a step further and took an expedited Python course which would have been so much more difficult had I not built a solid foundation working with data already.
Although I would not recommend taking an expedited Python course if you learn or think in a similar way as myself (Bottom Up), I definitely recommend this order as an overall road map
on your journey to becoming a Data Analyst. Understanding end results then learning how to get there I feel was crucial. It provided perspective, color and taught me to problem-solve and think outside the box.
Check in tomorrow for another dose of why I love being a Data Analyst.
Happy Growing!!!
